Barrie

Here we are still hanging around Barrie.

Doing a little boat shopping and visiting and combining the two.

We went up to Midland and visited my aunt Barb, the famous ones mother.Went for lunch and had a great visit. She is 88 but you would never know it.Sharp as a tack and gets around just fine.

After that we went boat shopping, then we stopped by the beer store to visit Glen at 5:15 but he went home at 5.

We went to Rama to look at a boat with Doneen and Rod.Had lunch at the casino and I donated my usual 20 Bucks.

Yesterday we took the coach for a wheel alignment and tire rotation.Disaster!
Didn't get the alignment, only got 2 tires rotated a little grease in two nipples and they totally wrecked the steps that I had partially ruined. Now we have no working steps. And they only charged me $750.00 for that.
Wow! What a deal.I beat him down a hundred but I should have just beat him.
Stay away from Simcoe Truck and Trailer in Barrie.

Today we are heading for TO

Your going to love this one

> A woman was shopping at the local supermarket where she selected:
>
> A half-gallon of 2% milk
> A carton of eggs
> A quart of orange juice
> A head of lettuce
> A 2 lb. can of coffee
> A 1 lb. package of bacon
>
> As she was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind her watched as she placed the items in front of the cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk calmly stated, 'You must be single.'
>
> She was a bit startled by this proclamation, but she was intrigued by the derelict's intuition, since she indeed had never found Mr. Right. She looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to her marital status.
>
> Curiosity getting the better of her, she said, 'Yes you are correct. But how on earth did you know that?'
>
> The drunk replied, 'Cause you're ugly.'

Update

Peggy left me!

She took off last Thursday.

So long,bye bye, see ya,toodles,adios.

She couldn't stay away so she came back on Sunday.

Doneen's brother passed away so they went to North Bay for the funeral. They had planned to go there for the weekend to visit their other friend Mary Lynn anyway so they just stayed

Me and the mutts remained in Gravenhurst.Doneen's husband Rod got back Friday night so we went boat shopping on Saturday. It was a horrible rainy day and that's not good for boat shopping, but we persevered.

We won't be buying the boat that we pictured in my last post.We have decided on one with a different style aft.

Maybe like one of these two

Or maybe after we win the lottery or rob a bank or something.

Peg and Doneen took the train back to Gravenhurst Sunday afternoon which will be their last ride on that train as it is also going to retire at the end of the month.Well, maybe not the train but Gravenhurst will no longer have the train service.
And it was 35 minutes late.

Rod and I planned Surf and Turf for dinner and it of course was excellent as always. We also said our good byes as we are off to Barrie.

Again

Yup,it's time to boat shop again.

Peggy and I started boat shopping again and low and behold we found the one.

We both love it,but it is a hell of a lot more money than we plan on spending.Just tying to spend the kid's inheritance.I think I was born with champagne taste and a beer budget.

                                                                     This is her

I think we best keep on looking or maybe win the lottery.

We took the mutts for hair cuts.

They sure needed them

Then we took dinner to the Braziers place. It was our turn.
I got to have a little more to drink this time cause it was Peg's turn to drive.Good timing as Rod had picked up a good bottle of scotch which I was only too willing to share with him.

THE OIL CRISIS

Garfield on the oil crisis

A lot of folks can't understand how we came
to have an oil shortage here in Canada .

Well, there's a very simple answer,
Nobody bothered to check the oil.

We just didn't know we were getting low.

The reason for this is purely geographical.

Our Oil is located in:

ALBERTA
SASKATCHEWAN
BRITISH COLUMBIA
MANITOBA
COASTAL NEW BRUNSWICK
COASTAL  NEWFOUNDLAND

Our DIPSTICKS are  located  in OTTAWA

Any Questions ???
NO ?...  Didn't think so.

Tired

Yes we were tired.
We did a few things around the house and then headed for Rod and Doneen's(Worlds best hosts).

We had a couple, only a couple cause we had had enough over the last couple of days to do us for a while.

Then we were served up a rib dinner that was fabulous.

We are going to allow them to keep their 5 Star rating even though Becel was served on the table in it's original container.

Can you believe that?
Every one deserves a second chance so shall it be.

We did not stay too late as to wear out our welcome and headed off home.Sleep was also required.

The Dream

It's Every Mans Dream Come True.

I know when I wake up every morning the first thing I say to Peggy is.........

"Is there a gift opening I can go to?

Today my dream came true.I got to go to a gift opening. It's a woman's thing. You can tell by just looking around. The women are enjoying themselves and the men can't wait to get the hell out of there.
Don't get me wrong,it's nice to mingle with the guests and all but we did that the night before. They should make it a rule that it's women only but then again the Groom does need the support.

One of Peg's cousins and his wife came back to the coach after and we had a great visit and then the Bride and Groom showed up so it ended up being a great day after all.

Only trouble is that was 2 nights in a row of going to bed just before 2.
2am that is.
My old body now needs a rest.

Wedding Day

Tara,Pat and the girls came to pick us up for the wedding so that required a cocktail or two.

You have to be careful or you could
get the wrath of Tara,Just ask Breena.

Then it was off to the wedding
The girls were all duded up in their Sunday go to meetin clothes and stuff.
Pretty as a picture they were!

Oh ya,The Wedding

Kathy and Steve were the happy couple.
Kathy is from Peggy's side of the family.

Every thing did go as planned without a hitch,or should I say they did get hitched.

There was  great meal followed
by dancing and more wedding stuff
There might even have been some drinking.

And

Guess who caught the bouquet?

Peggy of course spent the whole night talking to all her relatives and such

We must have had a good time as we hung in there till the last dog was hung.

Orillia

So we are back on the road again but not for long.
We just whipped up to Orillia for a wedding.
Before we left I had to say good-bye to my new friend Alvin. The mutts were quite happy he's gone cause they wanted a piece of him.

It poured rain most of the way here yesterday but it has stopped for now.

The campground we are in will probably not win any awards from us,especially the smooth road award.Sometimes I think because it's the end of the season the people just let things go.However it will influence where we stay next year.
We are parked right next to this fabulous playground?
Cause we look like we have a bunch of young kids that would enjoy it.

After we got here we scooted up to Gravenhurst so see Rod and Doneen. This time they were home.We had a great but short visit cause we have to get home by dark.
We didn't quite make it but we did make it.He He

And Bob's your Uncle

Peterborough

After saying good-bye to Chris and Louise we headed off to Peterborough and guess what? It's not raining but it's not hot either.Nice day for travelling.

The weatherman says it's going to heat up so that's also good.

We arrived in the afternoon and got settled in Beavermead Park. There is hardly any one here also.Juat like Pembroke.Once the little snot pickers go back to school there is just us old bed shitters left.

Last year there was a chip truck right here in the park and this year he built himself a little cabin.Chips on Demand.whoopeeee.

Tried em out-They were better last year.

I have a step mom Wendy who lives here so we are spending some time with her and just taking it easy.doing a little shopping and getting things done.

What

The weather has been fantastic since we left St Albert but today it's raining cats and dogs.

The campground here is almost deserted so Quiet is the word.

Peg and Louise went shopping and then out for lunch while they left me behind to do all the work.Poor, poor me.

Later we went over to their place where Chris played I Geek.He put all our apples in one basket if you know what I mean.
Phil and Jen joined us for drinks,BBQ and cards.

A great time was had by all.

Eating

We lazed around in the morning as usual but we met Mike and Dianne, who summer by Renfrew, for lunch at The Nook Creperie for lunch. The food was fantastic and we got to catch up on things since we saw them last in Arizona. It wasn't long til we had killed a couple of hours and it was time to move on.

Before going out for dinner we had a couple at Chris and Louise's house. They pretty much gutted their house and did some awesome renos. It's like they got a new house.

While we were there a Partridge came by so say hi.

Then it was off to Anthony's for a wonderful time.

Finally

We are having a cold one with our new friends  at the KOA in Gravenhurst.Ed and Jane.Somehow it comes up that they used to live in Parry Sound.I ask him if he has ever been to Isabella Lake.I have never met anyone who has ever been there. When I was 16 my dad and I built a cabin on that lake.Anyway Ed says he was born and raised in Orrville, which is a small village of about 30 people about a km or 2 from the lake. I used to hang around the general store there.Awesome

Then they get new neighbours and they stop by for one,he works for Harley Davidson and no he did not have any samples so don't ask.Somehow we end up talking about small towns and Ed tells the guy from Harley's friend,or brother in law or something that he was born and raised in Orrville and I've been there. The guy says he was also born and raised in Orrville.
No Shit
They tell each other who they are and it turns out they were best friends as kids and have not seen each other since you know who was a cowboy.

Small world
Ya just can't make this shit up.

So yesterday
We were cruising through the 1 horse town of Barry's Bay and low and behold there it was.

Sittin by the side of the road in all it's glory

Pauls Chip Wagon

It was worth the wait, great fries, ate too many, way too full.

And just down the street were 2 more chip trucks
Feast or Famine.
I didn't stop again.

Now it's off to Pembroke.

Here in Ontario they have a ride program.
We know them as check stops.

I was stopped the other day around 2 pm driving the coach and  again at a different place at 4 pm driving the car.
It's just not safe to drink and drive here. Not only will you take the risk of spilling the beer(rough roads) but you just might get charged

Chip Truck

We got away around 10:30.Not bad for us.

At around noon I started looking, actually I'm always looking.

When I come to Ontario the first thing I love to do is get some fresh cut fries off the chip truck.
They are everywhere in Ontario and no where out west.Usually their fries are excellent.I started looking when we first entered Ontario over a week ago.The first day I saw a couple but it was breakfast time and I'm not into fries for breakfast. Then there were nome.NO CHIP TRUCKS.Day after day no chip trucks.I did spot one last week but there was no way of getting close with the rig.No chips for me.

To day just outside of Barrie I spot a roadside sign"chip truck 1/2 km ahead"I slow down, turn on my signal, hold up traffic but when we get there,NO Chip Truck,It's gone
Summer must be over, but the hunt continues.

We decide to do Webers(Famous for their burgers)We do em,the burgers are great but still no fresh cut fries.

We arrive at our destination in Gravenhurst but our friends have left for Seattle.Crap!

The campground assigns us a spot(the only one we will fit into, according to them)It's right next to the spot we fit into last year which is empty.
We don't fit.In fact we don't fit so good that I did about a $1,000.00 or more damage to the rig.
Not a Happy Camper.
I took the spot we had last year, now it's time to drown my sorrows.

Through all this we did meet some new friends to drown our sorrows with. They are Jane & Ed and they have a seasonal spot here in the park.We met cause Ed came over to help when he heard the crunching.

Go Home Day

It was go home day.

A beautiful day as all go home days are.

The kids had arranged a late check out as I would imagine the traffic back to Barrie at the end of this long weekend will be horrendous.

But you know how it goes, once they started packing up they just kept going and then decided they might as well take off.

Next thing you know-They Were Gone.

We had a lazy day starting with fresh Cinnamon Buns that Tara made followed by watching the end of the race from yesterday outside under the awning.

Really Quiet.

The chicken was thawing in anticipation to be bbq'd and the beer was chilling. We have no wine for dinner as we forgot we are in Ontario and the dam liquor stores are not open Sundays and Holidays.
Communists Pigs!

It is really quiet here now.Everybody has gone home except for 1 or 2 other units. We will be taking off ourselves tomorrow after all the weekend traffic is gone.
Hopefully
